Faux “Cedar Planked” BBQ Salmon

Many salmon lovers enjoy their salmon infused by a cedar plank – especially when cooking salmon on the BBQ. However, what if you don’t have a cedar plank, or you do have one, but you don’t want to soak it in water for two hours before using it? This is your fast fix to getting that amazing flavour without even having to use the cedar plank.

By adding some of our Barreled Trouble (barrel aged gin) to your marinade, you get amazing nuances of the American Oak we used to age our Trouble Gin. This recipe is really no trouble at all.

Ingredients

Scale

1 Large Salmon Filet

3 tbsp of Olive Oil

3 tbsp of Barreled Trouble Gin

1 tbsp minced garlic

1 tbsp garlic powder

1 large disposable tin pan (good on the BBQ)

1 lemon, sliced in thin pieces

Instructions

Mix all ingredients together, except the lemon slices

Place the salmon filet in the disposable tin pan

Cover filet with mixture and let it marinade for about 2 hours, covered in the fridge

Pre-heat your grill to 350 degrees

Take the salmon out of the fridge and allow it to come to room temperature (or leave out for about 20 minutes)

Place the sliced lemons on top of the salmon

Place the salmon on the BBQ (we left it on direct low heat with indirect heat on high)

Cook for about 20-30 minutes (depending on size of salmon)

Once you can flake the salmon away easily with a fork, it is done.

ENJOY!
